Let's start with an empty cell:

To add text to an empty cell, first delete the words "Empty Cell". To do this, you can use one of several methods:

You can click to the right of "Cell". You will note that the cursor becomes  "I" shaped and blinks.  (This indicates that you can edit text within the cell).

Now press the backspace key until all the text has been deleted. All you will see is the "I" shaped cursor at the upper left of the cell:

Another method, one that is probably more efficient for deleting large blocks of text, is to select and delete the entire text area. First hold the left mouse key and drag across the text you want to select:
Now that the text is removed, let's type something into the cell. You can type in text exactly as you would in a Word Processing program. Notice that as you type, the words will continue on the next line if they cannot fit on a line within the cell's right hand margin. You do not have to press the "Enter" or "Return" key to break at the ends of lines (unless you want to do so for special effect -- for example to start a new paragraph:

Notice also that if you type more text than the cell can hold, the cell will automatically resize itself vertically to hold the additional text.

If you resize the cell, the text will automatically adapt itself to the new margins:

Notice that by making the cell wider, we have fit the text within a shorter vertical distance.

By using cell boundaries to determine the layout of text, you can place blocks of text anywhere on the page. You can easily have two or more columns of text, like a newspaper, or you can arrange blocks in many other arrangements to maximize the visual interest of your page.
