Note that you can also make the E-Commerce Link display "Hover Effects" when the customer moves the mouse over it, by clicking the "Format" button under "Apply Hover Text".

Here is what the screen might look like for the item in the example above:

When the page is
published (or when you view it in Preview mode), the link is active:

If a customer clicks on the link, the item will be added to his or her Shopping Cart:

 Credit Card Processing

If you want to accept Credit Card payments, you'll have to have a Merchant account at a bank and a service that processes credit card payments. We have developed software links with two leading credit card services (click on their links below) and will be glad to work with you and them to get you set up quickly to process credit card payments. Call us at 321-632-0228.

What options for payment you want your customers to have: Credit Card, Check, and or Other. ("Other" can include options like you receiving orders via e-mail and then arranging payment during a phone call with the customer, or taking credit card information by phone).

If you plan to accept credit card payment, what company or service will be processing credit card payments.

Merchant account identifying numbers and passwords.

Order handling fees.

Headings, subheadings, text, captions, logos, and other appearance options for the Shopping Cart.

State(s) in which you are physically located and therefore must pay sales tax.

Minimum rate for sales tax in these states.

Whether shipping and handling fees are taxable in these states.

If you accept check payment, address to which checks should be sent.

E-mail address to which orders should be sent.
This information will be entered into the merchant database and used by the Shopping Cart and Ordering programs to determine such things as Cart format, amount of sales tax, etc.

Creating E-Commerce Links

Anywhere on any page in your WebBuild Express application you can set up a link to enable your customers to order a product or service.

In the following example from the
WellWorks.net site, the user has built a portion of a page with text describing a product for sale and a graphic illustration:

The user highlights the word "here" at the bottom. (This will be the text used for the E-Commerce hyperlink). By right-clicking on the highlighted text, the user chooses "Links Anchors" and then "Create":

The "Links Anchors" screen appears. The user clicks on the "WebBuild E-Commerce" choice for the "Link Type":

Note that there are a number of fields on this screen that must be completed for the E-Commerce link to work:

 Testing E-Commerce Links

It's always a good practice to test any E-Commerce links you add to a WebBuild Express page. Using
Page or Site Preview is a great way to do this as long as you have an active Internet connection.

Click on each link you've added and make sure that the item comes up with the right price and shipping fee in the Shopping Cart. Then complete the order up to the point where you pay for it to ensure that Order Handling fees and Sales Tax are computed correctly.

Mode - Choose "Add to Cart" if you want to put the item in the customer's Shopping Cart. Choose "View Cart" if you want the link to provide a view of items already in the cart.

Application - This must be the name of an Aplication that has been configured as a WebBuild E-Commerce application. This will ensure that the correct values from the "Merchant Data" file are used to build and display the Shopping Cart.

Stock No. - The stock or product number you use to identify the product.

Description - A short description of the product or service.

Price - The price in US Dollars and Cents (e.g. 162.25).

Tax Status - Whether the item is subject to Sales Tax in your home State. (In some states clothing items under a certain value are not taxable; in others downloaded software or computer files are not taxable).

Shipping Charge -The cost in US Dollars and Cents for shipping each unit of product ordered (e.g. 16.75).

Quantity - The standard order quantity (usually 1).

Return Page - This will be the page on your site that the customer will return to after viewing the Shopping Cart. Usually it is the page on which the E-Commerce link was placed, which will return the customer to the page where he ordered the item. You can optionally direct the customer back to an anchor on the page. Alternatively, you can have the customer go to a Web address outside your site when he/she leaves the Shopping Cart ("External").
WebBuild Express has a powerful set of tools for E-Commerce that enable you to build Web pages that feature products or services that you offer. By clicking on links that you place on your site, visitors can add items to a shopping cart and submit their order when they have completed shopping.

WebBuild Express E-Commerce includes:

               A full-featured shopping cart

The ability to accept payment by credit card, check, or other
                  means

The ability for customers to download files that they buy (e.g.
                  software, e-books, documents, artwork, etc.)

How does WebBuild Express E-Commerce work?

You build your site as you normally would, using the WebBuild Express tools. The pages that present your goods and services might have pictures and descriptions of items you offer for sale. Using the normal commands for
creating a hyperlink, you create an E-Commerce link to our Shopping Cart and convey to the Cart program a number of bits of information about the item for sale: its price, tax status, shipping charges, description, stock number, etc.

The following diagram illustrates how E-Commerce works in WebBuild Express:

When a customer orders an item from a page on your site, the Shopping Cart receives information from two sources: (1) data that is embedded in the link and (2) data that is stored in a Merchant Data file that is set up when you
configure your application for E-Commerce. Merchant data includes information like: your tax state, what kind of payment you accept, what credit card processing agency you use (if any), your customer service number, etc.
