You can use the Delete function to delete selected blocks of text, images, or cells.
Delete can be invoked by choosing "Delete" from the "Edit" menu, pressing the "del" key, or clicking on the  button on the Toolbar.
You can delete groups of cells if they are selected (see "Selecting and Editing Multiple Cells").
