Formatting Text
You can change the format of all or some of the text you enter into a cell. You can change the font, size, or color, and specify whether text is Bold, Italic, and/or Underlined.

To format text, first select the text you wish to format by clicking to either the right or left of the section and dragging the cursor over the text while holding the left mouse button. When the highlighting shows the desired text selection, release the left mouse button:

Now click on the        button or click on "Edit" and then "Format Text" on the menu bar. The following screen will appear:

Notice that this screen has several sections. The pane at the top shows the name and appearance of the text, as currently formatted. (In the current example, the selected text has an Arial font). If you hold the mouse over one of the font names in the "MS Core Fonts" or "Other Fonts" area, you'll see what the font looks like in the top pane.

The "MS Core Fonts" should produce text that appear the same on most users' browsers. The "Other Fonts" are fonts that are installed on your computer, but they may not display on other computers exactly the same as they do on yours. If you cannot predict the fonts that will be loaded on computers of people who visit your web site -- and this probably applies to most Web sites -- you should limit your choice of fonts to the "MS Core Fonts".

For our example, let's select the "Comic Sans MS" font. Let's also choose Font Style Bold, Italic, and Underline, and change the Font Pixel Size to 18:
If you click on the "Save Changes" button, you can see how the text formatting will appear on the Web page:

Note that the text color wasn't changed in the above example. Let's do so now. Highlight a portion of the text that was just formatted: the word "formatted":

Click on the       button to invoke the Text Formatting screen (or right-click on the selected text and choose "Text Formatting"). The screen will appear (note that it "remembers" the formatting you just did):
To change the font color click on the "Select" button under "Font Color" at the lower right section of the screen. You will now see the WebBuild "Color Selector" or "Wheel":

We will discuss the "Color Wheel" in more detail in the next section. For now, let's pick one of the colors in the top row. We'll click on the first color square to the left of the left arrow, dark red. (The top row always "remembers" the last colors you have used).

The "Color Wheel" will now show the selected color in the large vertical rectangle at the right of the screen:

Click "OK" on this screen and "Save Changes" on the Text Format screen. The text now appears with the new color:

With a little imagination, you can use Text Formatting to create a
variety of interesting effects.
