Vista is Microsoft's new Windows operating system. Most PC's that are sold after December 2006 will have this system installed.
Vista offers many advantages over previous versions of Windows, particular in the area of security. It is hoped that it will be extremely difficult for rogue programs, viruses, and spyware to take control of a computer, delete data, or cause other damage.
WebBuild Express has been configured to run under Vista and extensively tested in beta versions of the new operating system. We are confident that it will run reliably and securely under Vista, provided that users have Service Pack #8 or later installed on their PC's. (For instructions how to upgrade to Service Pack #8, please click here).
There are some differneces between how WebBuild Express runs under Vista and how it functioned under earlier versions of Windows. When you launch WebBuild Express in Vista, you will see the following screen:
This is a security feature in Vista that prevents most programs from obtaining access to certain core Windows resources. You should only click "Allow" if you are certain that the program you are running is safe and does not present a security threat to your computer.
WebBuild Express must access folders under the PC's "Program Files" folder to store and retrieve data and to create the Web pages and other files that it publishes. Under Vista, this requires that a user run the program as an "Administrator". When a user attempts to run any program as an Administrator, the screen shown above will appear.
Clicking the "Allow" option will enable WebBuild Express to access the data and files it needs to run as designed.
