OK, now that you've built your Web site, where can you host it so that it is available to viewers anywhere in the world?
These days, most of us are fortunate in this regard. If you have an account with an Internet Service Provider (for example AOL, Earthlink, Comcast, Brighthouse, BellSouth, SBC, etc.), you can probably get free hosting from your provider.
Unfortunately, this opportunity is not perfect for everyone. Many Internet Providers place restrictions on the hosting services they offer. In particular, they may restrict or limit:
The size of the site (total storage required for web pages and images and/or the bandwidth used by visitors to the site)
The purpose of the site (many ISP's limit free hosting to noncommercial sites)
The address at which visitors can reach your site (some ISP's may not let you use a domain name -- e.g. YourSiteName.com -- and may require visitors to use a Web address like: (which is obviously not very user-friendly). |
